The beekeeping pioneering family, the Blackwells, arrived on Great Barrier Island in the 1860s. They worked the land and discovered that Great Barrier Island has an ideal environment for the production of New Zealand Manuka Honey. Today, their ancestor, Les Blackwell can be found on the Island, working the land and beekeeping. This hand wash was named after him out of respect for him.
